ElectraLoom ESD Broadloom

Installation and Attachment to Electrical Ground

ElectraLoom ESD Broadloom
aluminum foil ground fastener stud hooded ground cord

ElectraLoom's conductive performance is outstanding. It's a true CONDUCTIVE esd carpeting that meets the latest standards, installs like standard carpeting, provides long lasting wear performance (with superior anti stain properties) and doesn't require expensive and hard to manufacture vinyl carpet tile backing.

Hence: Great value, outstanding electrical performance and quality seamless aesthetics.

ElectraLoom is to be installed like any standard full surface glue down broadloom carpeting. It is a directional product (as is standard).

Use typical carpet adhesive trowels, quality standard carpet adhesive and standard seaming techniques. ElectraLoom is not recommended for stretch in application over carpet padding.

ElectraLoom doesn't require conductive adhesive (like carpet tiles) since you don't have to be concerned with maintaining conductivity from tile to tile.

Conductivity between runs is not a concern as the conductive fibers (between the runs) become intimately connected during the standard seaming techniques.

HOWEVER!
ElectraLoom (like any esd flooring material) MUST be electrically grounded to perform as designed. A minimum of 2 ground points must be used in installations of <1,000 SF with 1 additional ground point added for each remaining 1,000 SF.

*  Locate AC power outlet. Remove electrical face plate cover (typically plastic). Starting at a location about ½” beneath the outlet cutout (on the drywall) run a piece of our 2" wide aluminum foil ground tape down wall and onto floor about 2 or 3 inches. Note: for a great looking attachment cut any wall base, peel back base and run strip behind re-glued base.

*  Run another aluminum foil strip (about 36” long piece) over this 2" or 3" piece that you've placed on the floor. Run this strip parallel to the wall and stick to the flooring substrate (concrete, VCT, etc).

*  Standard carpet adhesive is used in all areas except where this aluminum strip is positioned. The aluminum strip (placed on the substrate) is covered with conductive adhesive that makes contact with the carpet backing. We supply the aluminum foil grounding tape, a small container of conductive adhesive and directions for use with broadloom orders at no charge.

*  Replace plastic AC electrical face plate cover with a metal face plate cover making sure metal face plate cover contacts the aluminum strip. NOTE: If an AC electrical outlet is not available the ElectraLoom may be grounded to a clean metal column by running aluminum tape up pre cleaned column and running metal screw through foil and column. If AC electrical outlets nor metal columns are available (if the carpet is installed as a stand alone "island") a fastener stud is to be installed through carpeting and grounded using our PN: 115AS beveled hooded ground cord appropriately attached to electrical common point ground. Your floor is now grounded.

NOTE
The ElectraLoom system only requires 2 ground connections for small floors (under 1,000 sf) and one additional ground for every 1,000 sf thereafter. More grounding attachments will not raise the conductivity of your flooring system.
